Our
story

Phave's Studios began with a simple frustration: too many Nigerian stories were being told by people who had never lived them.

Founded in Lagos, we started by filming short documentaries with community groups on borrowed cameras. Those films travelled further than we expected, to festivals, classrooms and policy meetings, and showed us how much a well-told story can change.

Today we produce fiction and non-fiction films, train emerging filmmakers, and create content for the platforms where Nigerians actually watch. The mission hasn't changed: put real people and real issues on screen, with honesty and craft.

Our mission

To tell Nigerian stories that change how audiences see, feel and act.

  • 01

    Truth first

Whether a film is fiction or documentary, it starts with real research and real voices from the communities it portrays.

  • 02

    Local talent

We cast, crew and collaborate with Nigerians at every stage, and we pay and credit them properly.

  • 03

    Impact you can measure

We work with NGOs and partners so screenings lead to conversations, and conversations lead to action.

Why Nigerian stories?

More than 200 million people, over 500 languages and one of the most creative cultures on earth, yet so much of Nigerian life is still seen on screen through a narrow lens.

We believe the people closest to a story should shape how it's told. That means filming in the places our stories happen, casting from the communities they're about, and building an industry where young Nigerian filmmakers can learn and thrive at home.
